Shant Kumar Ramtirth (born April 25, 1994), goes by the stage name Shan Emcee, is an Indian English hip-hop and contemporary R&B artist & a songwriter. In the year 2018, he has begun the music production by releasing his first single. He started the label “Optima Records” by signing up with beat producer 19Ninety4.
Shan Emcee started writing lyrics in the late 2016. Observing the people around him and comparing the people of different cultures and their daily practices has provided a good start for his lyrical thoughts. He wrote lyrics for few songs but failed to record and produce due to lack of instruments support. The first he recorded was named Destroyed but it is never released out. He wrote his first official song in August, 2018 which had been able to be produced successfully.
After musically inspired by the several hip hop artists, In 2018, Shan Emcee released his first single. Then he began to work on other songs to provide continuation to his single. He has released his first extended playlist (EP) "Pit Of Death" in July 2019 and started working on his debut album “Back in Pursuit”. After almost 3 years of efforts, on February 25, 2022 he successfully released the album which appears to be the first English hip-hop solo & indie album to release from India. Shan Emcee’s relationship with hip-hop is slightly different, he thinks he can use it as a medium to send out the messages to the world to achieve equality between people of various religions and ethnics. One can see his early attempt on the outro track “Divided By Equals”. However, the start has to be on the ground level. At first, he would like to put India into world class hip-hop music lane and build a bridge between the cultures.
